City of Clovis Hires New Parks and Recreation Director

The City of Clovis is pleased to welcome Russell Hooper as the new Parks and Recreation Director. He will begin his work for the City on Monday, March 22, 2021, and he succeeds Mark Dayhoff as director. Hooper has 14 years of experience in the parks and recreation field and most recently served as the manager for District 1 Park Maintenance and Operations for the City of Dallas, Texas. He is also a certified parks and recreation professional.

When asked about his new position, Hooper remarked that he “looks forward to moving to Clovis and making the most of my time in the Parks and Recreation Department in order to create a better quality of life for Clovis area residents and visitors.” Hooper will be new to the Clovis area. 

City Manager Justin Howalt commented on Hooper’s hiring. “Given his vast experience with parks and recreation, I anticipate great growth within this department, and I would like to personally welcome the Hooper family to our community.” 

Commissioner Fidel Madrid, who chairs the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee, also expressed support for the new director. “We look forward to the fresh perspective that Mr. Hooper will bring to our Parks department.”
