The Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for implementing recommended goals, plans, policies and ordinances that provide for the orderly growth and development of the City of Clovis. The department serves as an informational resource and a point for coordinating development functions for the development community and citizens at-large. Working with the Planning and Zoning Commission, staff assists with rezoning and plats, annexation, variances and special exceptions to the zoning regulations.
Working on the long range planning and growth of the community, the Planning & Zoning Department works closely in the areas of advanced planning, particularly in the updating of the City of Clovis Comprehensive Plan.
Through the City’s Metropolitan Redevelopment Area plan, the Planning & Zoning Department works with area agencies and organizations on the revitalization of the downtown area.
The Planning & Zoning Department is part of the Building Safety Department and helps facilitate the permitting process.
