CITY OF CLOVIS SEEKING PUBLIC INPUT DURING PARKS PLAN SURVEY PROCESS

CITY OF CLOVIS SEEKING PUBLIC INPUT DURING PARKS PLAN SURVEY PROCESS

The City of Clovis is currently updating its long range Parks Master Plan which, when completed in May 2015, will shape the direction, development and delivery of the city’s parks and recreation services over the next ten years.   This comprehensive process is being overseen by the City of Clovis’ Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee which consists of area residents and city commissioners, and the City’s Parks Department.

Consensus Planning, a leading New Mexico planning and landscaping design firm located in Albuquerque, is currently working with the City on the plan.  They will be meeting with the Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee whose meetings are open to the public for input and will host a town hall meeting at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at the Clovis Civic Center.  The City would like to extensively engage the public to obtain input regarding their current use of the park system, and to assess the future desires of the community.

Opportunities to participate in the process include the following:

The survey will also be mailed out randomly throughout the community. The City will accept completed surveys through January 16th, 2015.
  • Attendance at the Community Town Hall at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at the Clovis Civic Center.

In addition to their work on the Parks Master Plan, Consensus Planning will also provide three alternative master plan concepts for Hillcrest Park based upon input from the Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee and the general public during the community town hall meeting at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29th, 2015.  The preferred concept for Hillcrest Park, together with the Parks Master Plan, will be recommended to the Clovis City Commission for final action.
