Committees

The LEPC is made up of multiple committees that serve the community.

The LEPC officers are made up of officials that run the LEPC office.

The Executive Council membership is made up of representatives of City of Clovis and Curry County as established by city/county ordinances.

The Exercise Design and Planning subcommittee works with first responder agencies and various other organizations to test the functions of the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and the other emergency actions plans by developing and conducting drills and exercises.

The Emergency Response/HAZMAT subcommittee is responsible for reviewing the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) periodically and making any necessary revisions to reflect the growing and changing needs of the community. The EOP contains the City and County’s policy and procedures for responding to all natural and man-made disasters that are likely to occur. Local businesses and facilities which process or store certain hazardous substances above specified reportable quantities are required under state and federal law to provide this information to the LEPC and to local fire departments, as well as the State Emergency Response Committee (SERC) using the Tier II report. This subcommittee assists these facilities in complying with state and federal regulations.

The Membership subcommittee is tasked with the responsibility of assuring that the LEPC continues to have representation from all major organizations beyond those called for by City or County Ordinances and businesses involved with the storage, transportation, or sale of hazardous materials. Members in this committee will make contact with interested citizens wanting to become a volunteer of the LEPC. They will also be responsible for assuring that each member has a current membership application on file. There shall be no limitation to the number of LEPC members.

The primary functions of the Community Awareness subcommittee are to develop a public alert and notification program, participate in community outreach events concerning disaster preparedness, and the development of public education and information programs.
