The City of Clovis Parks and Recreation Department
provides an array of physical resources for residents. Included in the
resource base are seventeen parks or recreational areas, encompassing
3,700 acres of which 900 acres are developed for recreational use. There
are: 5 youth baseball fields; 5 adult softball fields; 4 youth softball
fields; 11 soccer fields; 2 youth football fields; 23 open play areas; 1
skate park; 3 outdoor basketball courts; and four sand volleyball
courts.
The department also consists of: the Hillcrest Park
Zoo (second largest Zoo in New Mexico); a 9-hole Golf Course, with a Par
3 Course and driving range; one indoor pool and one outdoor pool; a
recreational center with two gymnasiums and a weight room; and the
Lyceum Theater. Park shelters and a sunken garden are available for
rentals throughout the year. Swimming lessons and water aerobics are
offered at the two pools, depending on the season.
Keep Clovis Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep
America Beautiful, is part of the department. KCB conducts two major
cleanups within the City, in the Fall and Spring.
The Department has received several awards from
New Mexico Parks and Recreation Association (NMRPA), as well as from
Keep America Beautiful and New Mexico Clean & Beautiful.
