Chapter 17.150 DEFINITIONS
17.150.260 Home uses.
A. Home Occupations. This category refers to any service, professional or
art occupation which is customarily, in whole or in part, conducted in a
residence which does not change the essential character of the residential use.
No employees other than family members are permitted. No commercial vehicle(s)
other than a standard size automobile or pick up are permitted to be used in
conjunction with the house use.
B. Home Businesses.
1. A business
conducted on a lot in conjunction with a residential dwelling unit. Up to four
employees may be employed that do not live on the property. This use involves no
exterior storage, and all vehicles and materials shall be located in
buildings.
2. This use includes contractors’ offices, service or
professional businesses, offices, music, art, or other schools, art studios and
art galleries.
C. Cottage Industry.
1. An industrial or intensive use(s)
conducted on a lot with a residential dwelling unit. Up to six employees may be
employed in addition to family members.
2. This use includes, but is not
limited to, businesses related to agriculture, trucking operations, small
automotive repair shops, septic system service, well service, carpentry,
upholstery, woodworking, potteries, glassworks and other similar uses. It
includes screened outdoor storage areas.
D. Home Child Care. This category
shall be defined by regulation of the child care licensing and certification
bureau of the children, youth and families department. (Ord. 1600-99 §
