Title 17 COMPREHENSIVE ZONING REGULATION*
Chapter 17.150 DEFINITIONS
17.150.100 Word usage.
The provisions and rules of this chapter shall be observed and applied
when interpreting this title, except when the context clearly requires
otherwise:
A. Words used or defined in one tense or form shall include other
tenses or forms.
B. Words in the singular number shall include the plural
number. Words in the plural number shall include the singular number.
C. The
masculine gender shall include the feminine. The feminine gender shall include
the masculine.
D. The word “shall” is mandatory.
E. The word
“may” is permissive.
F. The word “person” includes
individuals, firms, corporations, associations, trusts, and any other similar
entities.
G. The word “attorney” means the Clovis city
attorney.
H. The words “building code” mean the current Curry
County building code.
I. The word “city” means the city of
Clovis, New Mexico.
J. The words “comprehensive plan” mean the
comprehensive plan of the city of Clovis. It includes all maps, charts and
explanatory materials adopted in April 1992 and subsequent
amendments.
K. The word “commission” means the Clovis city
commission.
L. The words “planning and zoning commission” mean
the Clovis planning and zoning commission.
M. The words “planning
department” mean the staff of the Clovis planning department.
N. The
words “recorder of deeds” mean the Curry County clerk’s
office.
O. The words “registered engineer” mean an engineer
registered in the state of New Mexico.
P. The word “state” means
the state of New Mexico.
Q. The letters “SIC” mean the Standard
Industrial Classification (as listed in the 1987 manual printed by the Executive
Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget).
R. The phrase
“zoning board” means the Clovis planning and zoning
commission.
S. The words “zoning map” refer to the official
zoning map of the city of Clovis, New Mexico. (Ord. 1524-97 § 2(part),
1997; Ord. 1495-96 § 3(part), 1996).
