Permanent resurfacing may be done by the applicant or a licensed contractor hired by the applicant. The cost of resurfacing will be borne by the applicant. The applicant must resurface the excavation within a period of ten days after the completion of backfill, unless a longer period may be required by extreme weather conditions. The applicant shall be responsible for keeping the excavations safe for pedestrians and vehicular traffic until the pavement surface has been accepted. Acceptance of the resurfacing by the city does not relieve the applicant from the responsibility to repair failed excavations within ten days. (Ord. 1583-98 § 3(part), 1998).
