The commission may examine and inspect or cause to be examined and inspected, at reasonable times and in a reasonable manner, under its authority, the books, records, accounts, motor vehicles and facilities of any carrier subject to this chapter; provided, that any person conducting such shall produce, when so requested, his authority from the commission to make such examination or inspection.
