The library board shall consist of nine members who shall be residents of the county. Seven of the members shall be appointed jointly by the mayor of the city and the chairman of the board of county commissioners, with the approval of the city commission and the board of county commissioners. In addition to the seven members appointed by the city and county, the city commission shall select one member from the city commission who shall serve during the term for which he is elected to the city commission, and the board of county commissioners shall appoint one member from the board of county commissioners who shall serve during the term for which he is elected to the board of county commissioners.
