Whenever a city commissioner is appointed to serve on a permanent advisory board or commission, or an ad hoc committee, an alternate shall be designated for the commission member. If no alternate has been officially designated, the commissioner from the same district as the primary commission member shall automatically serve as an alternate for that commissioner. Primary city commission members shall notify alternate members as far in advance of meetings as possible when the primary member will not be able to attend a board or committee meeting.
