Chapter 2.16 MUNICIPAL JUDGES
2.16.030 Temporary substitute for judge-Eligibility, appointment and compensation.
In the event of the temporary incapacity or temporary absence of the duly
elected municipal judge, the mayor of the city is authorized and empowered to
nominate and appoint any registered voter of the city to sit for the municipal
judge during his temporary absence or incapacity. If the temporary substitute
continues to serve at the time of the next regularly scheduled commission
meeting after the appointment by the mayor, the city commission shall review the
appointment and either confirm or terminate the appointment. If terminated, the
commission shall appoint a registered voter to fill the capacity during the
temporary absence or incapacity of the municipal judge. The order of appointment
shall be filed with the city clerk. The temporary municipal judge shall receive
compensation at an hourly rate determined by the city commission for those hours
actually performed as temporary municipal judge. (Ord. 1484-95 § 2(part),
