Camel Naming Contest 1

Camel Naming Contest

The City of Clovis and the Hillcrest Park Zoo have organized a contest for individuals and businesses to bid for the naming rights of the Hillcrest Park Zoo’s newest addition, a baby male bactrian camel.

Bactrian camels have two humps where they store fat rather than water, like some people may believe. Camels have adapted to survive long periods without water, but when they do drink, an adult can drink up to 35 gallons at a time! This little guy may be small now, but he will grow up to 10 feet long and weigh between 1500 – 2000 lbs.

The bidding period will close at 5:00p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2022, after which the highest bidder will be notified. All proceeds of the contest will benefit the Hillcrest Park Zoo.
