From the City of Clovis Clovis Area Transit System
INTRODUCTION: The Clovis Area Transit System is the general public transportation service for the City of Clovis. At this time the service provided is still curb to curb within the city limits. The low fare is possible due to this service being subsidized by the City of Clovis, and a Federal Transit Administration Grant through the state Public Transportation Programs Bureau. AVAILABLE SERVICE: Demand Response Service We offer service anywhere within the city limits of Clovis. Buses run daily (30 minute intervals), Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 9:00 pm. We also offer minimal Saturday service from 8:00 am to 5:00. Office hours are Mon-Fri 7:00-7:00; Sat. 8:00-5:00. Reservations for following day service are not taken after 4:00 pm. ACCESSIBLE SERVICE: The service is accessible to disabled persons. Inform the reservation clerk what type of assistance you will need (i.e.; wheelchair lift, boarding assistance, etc.). Remember we are a transit service and cannot be expected to provide any type of certified aide services. Drivers will assist frail and non-ambulatory passengers boarding and alighting and, if needed, from door to door. However, drivers are not allowed to enter your residence. Three-wheeled scooters cannot be safely secured, so for your safety, the passenger will be requested to transfer to a seat during transport. FARE: The cost per person per trip is $.75. The cost is the same for all passengers, regardless of age. Since this fare is just a small portion of what the actual cost for the trip is (ranges from $4.00-$6.00) we cannot offer discounts below this charge. You may pay $.75 upon boarding or bus passes may be purchased at the office: $5 = 10 rides. Passengers may pay round trip, however, payments will not be tracked from one day to the next and refunds will not be given. Remember, drivers are not allowed to make change - you must have the correct fare in hand to board. MAKING YOUR RESERVATION: All reservations must be made a minimum of 1 day and maximum of 2 weeks in advance. Keep in mind that reservations are taken & scheduled every 30 minutes (6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, etc.). Some runs may close out due to the demand, so schedule early to make sure you get the time you want. Allow at least thirty minutes travel time when planning your trip schedule. When scheduling your trips, remember to plan for all stops for the day; including your return trip. Call-ins for return trips are allowed only for health appointments. These patrons are allowed to call-in for the next available bus to be dispatched. Call before 4:00 p.m. We begin taking reservations for after-school transport July 1 and are normally booked up by the time school starts. Reservations are made for the entire school year & we do not transport children to school. CHANGES/CANCELLATIONS: If you schedule a ride and later find you no longer need our service - no problem, just call the office and cancel at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled pick-up time. If you need to change your reservation please do so as early as possible. This will assure that your driver will get the changes you want and prevent any confusion. When scheduling a change, please inform the reservation clerk that you are scheduling a change; otherwise your previously scheduled ride may not be canceled. Remember, we do have a no-show policy.
