The library board shall consist of nine members who shall be residents of the county. Seven of the members shall be appointed jointly by the mayor of the city and the chairman of the board of county commissioners, with the approval of the city commission and the board of county commissioners.
In addition to the seven members appointed by the city and county, the city commission shall select one member from the city commission who shall serve during the term for which they were elected to the city commission, and the board of county commissioners shall appoint one member from the board of county commissioners who shall serve during the term for which they were elected to the board of county commissioners.
There are two nonvoting student members of the library board, to be appointed by the mayor, with the consent of the Clovis city commission, based upon the recommendation of the principal, Clovis High School. Terms of the nonvoting student members shall be two years. A junior at Clovis High School shall be selected each year to serve a term to coincide with the student’s junior and senior year of high school.
Meetings are scheduled at 5:30 p.m. quarterly (January, April, July and October) on the last Monday of the month at the Clovis-Carver Public Library Board Room.
The library board is an administrative agency of both the city and the county, acting in an advisory capacity, to assist the city commission and the board of county commissioners in every possible way to insure the efficient and economical management and operation of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.
The Clovis Curry Library Board membership shall consist of nine (9) members, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Commission. The term of appointment is for two years. Members missing three consecutive meetings or have been absent from more than fifty percent of the meetings held during a twelve month period of time may be removed by the Mayor and Commission.
Duties and Responsibilities
It is the duty of the library board to advise the head librarian of the Clovis-Carver Public Library in all matters pertaining to the management and operation of the library.
