CITY MANAGER ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF FIRE CHIEF MICHAEL NOLEN EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 28TH, 2015; PROVIDES UPDATE ON OTHER VACANCIES

Clovis City Manager Larry Fry announced the promotion of Battalion Chief Michael Nolen to the position of Fire Chief, Friday, effective Monday, September 28th, 2015.

Chief Nolen has been serving as Interim Fire Chief since March 7th 2015.   Chief Nolen has served the Clovis Fire Department for over fifteen years and was promoted to the rank of battalion chief in October 2011.

“Having conducted a thorough and rigorous selection process, I am satisfied that Mr. Nolen is the best candidate for the Clovis Fire Chief position,” advised Mr. Fry. “As the department addresses the needs of a growing community, staffing and funding levels, I am confident that his prior experience, together with his knowledge of the department and ambulance services, will be beneficial to the City of Clovis as it moves forward.”

In regard to the police chief position, Mr. Fry advised that the City will be seeking additional qualified applicants for this position, while continuing to consider those who have already applied. The new application period will run through the month of October and new applications, along with previous applications, will be reviewed shortly after that time. Captain Doug Ford will continue to serve as interim chief during this period.

Mr. Fry advised he hopes to make a final decision regarding the Airport Director position in the very near future.

Applications for the vacant city engineer position will be solicited during the month of October.
