CLOVIS MUNICIPAL ZOO “TREES OF TOLERANCE” LEGACY PROJECT RIBBON CUTTING SCHEDULED

Maria Beene and Eugene Vigil with the Department of Health-Developmental Disabilities Support Division in the Southeast Region based in Roswell have been facilitating a wonderful partnership between ENMRSH a committed and dedicated provider agency that helps support Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, talented local artist Ms. Patsy Delk with the Clovis Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee the Clovis Municipal Zoo, and the true stars of the project the individuals that participated from ENMRSH.

The Clovis Zoo Legacy Project has reached completion and will be unveiled at the Clovis Zoo on August 14, 2015 at 10:00 am. We invite you to share in this wonderful event and support the local Clovis community and community members.

This project started with an idea and a lot of collaboration, patience, creativity, and most of all passion by all involved. The participants were “not” chosen but made their own choice if they would like to participate. The individuals who participated came into this project with enthusiasm and a love of art and the excitement to be a part of something that will contribute to the Clovis community in which they love. This project is also a way to influence others in the community as well as promote positive community awareness about individuals with developmental disabilities. It was a great opportunity for the participants to just have fun in an art project that was meaningful to them. The project consists of two large trees with extended branches and various sized plates that are added to the branches that were individually painted and decorated by the participants. This piece is hung on the wall of the Clovis Zoo for all to see and enjoy. The project is suitably named “Trees of Tolerance” and includes a quote which states: “All things share the same breath – the beast, the tree, the man…the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.”
