CITY OF CLOVIS SEEKING PUBLIC INPUT DURING PARKS PLAN SURVEY PROCESS THROUGH FRIDAY, JANUARY 16TH, 2015

The City of Clovis is currently updating its long range Parks Master Plan which, when completed in May 2015, will shape the direction, development and delivery of the city’s parks and recreation services over the next ten years.   This comprehensive process is being overseen by the City of Clovis’ Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee which consists of area residents and city commissioners, and the City’s Parks Department.

Opportunities for the public to participate in the process include the following:

  • Completing an electronic survey by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/clovisparkssurvey.
  • Hard copies of the survey are located at City Hall, 321 N. Connelly Street, the Clovis-Carver Library located at 701 N. Main Street, City Parks Department located at 500 Sycamore, Clovis Community College, 417 Schepps, and the Clovis/Curry Chamber of Commerce located at 105 E. Grand.   Completed surveys may be delivered to City Hall at 321 N. Connelly Street, mailed to City of Clovis, PO Box 760, Clovis, NM 88102-0760, or e-mailed to administration@cityofclovis.org. The survey will also be mailed out randomly throughout the community. The City will accept completed surveys through January 16th, 2015.
  • Attendance at the Community Town Hall to discuss parks and recreational programs at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at the Clovis Civic Center.
  • Attendance at the Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee meetings. Meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at City Hall located at 321 N. Connelly Street. The next meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Monday, January 26th, 2015 at the Clovis City Hall.

The City would like to extensively engage the public to obtain input regarding their current use of the park system, and to assess the future desires of the community.

Consensus Planning, a planning and landscaping company from Albuquerque are assisting the city with the planning process.  They will also provide three alternative master plan concepts for Hillcrest Park based upon input from the Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee and the general public during the community town hall meeting at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29th, 2015.  The preferred concept for Hillcrest Park, together with the Parks Master Plan, will be recommended to the Clovis City Commission for final action.
