National Night Out 2013 – Green Acres Park, Clovis, NM

On Tuesday, August 6th from 6:00pm to Dark, at Greene Acres Park, neighborhoods throughout Clovis are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “30th Annual National Night Out”, crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by Clovis Police Department, will involve over 15,000 communities from all 50 states. In all, over 37 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime”.

National Night Out is designed to: 1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, 2. Generate support for, and participation in, local crime efforts, 3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and 4. Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Fun and games for kids and adults will be available. Local agencies- patrol and specialty vehicles will be on display. Child ID Kits, information handouts, coloring books, local officers to answer questions, plus many more interactive stations. Some of the participating agencies are Clovis Police, New Mexico State Police, Curry County Sheriff, Motor Transportation, Livestock Board, Cannon Security Forces, and several more.

Also joining this event this year is the Curry County Wellness Council’s “Back To School Health Fair”. Please bring your child’s shot records to this event for required school shots. Dental information, medical information, and a treasure hunt. Several Back to School Health Fair vendors will be on site offering their services. Local Emergency Planning Committee, Curry County Crimestoppers, and Department of Health are just some of the participants. We are expecting Aerocare and the New Mexico State Police to land their helicopters during this event. Food vendors will be on site. Some activities include- Dunk-A-Cop dunking booth, Curry County DWI Task Force DWI Karts, bouncy houses, and SWAT display.

Please plan on attending this event and let’s show criminals that we as a community are not going to sit back and let them take our town, let’s fight back. Every law enforcement agency needs a community’s help to make it a safe place to live, work, and play in.
